The Application Process
Step-by-step guide to applying as a Servella cleaner.
Our application process is straightforward and designed to get you cleaning as quickly as possible while ensuring quality and safety for our customers. The entire process typically takes 1-2 weeks from application to your first job, depending on how quickly you complete each stage.
Step 1: Online application
Start by completing our online application form at servella.co.uk/recruitment/apply. The form takes about 5-10 minutes. You can choose between a quick CV upload or a full application. The full application includes:
- Your personal details - name, email address, and phone number
- Your cleaning experience - years of experience, previous employer, previous role, and why you want to join Servella
- Your availability - which days you can work, how many hours per week, and your earliest start date
- Work area selection - choose the London areas where you're able to work
- Right to work check - confirm your immigration status (UK/Irish citizen, settled status, work visa, etc.)
- Review and submit - check your details before submitting
Quick apply option
If you'd prefer a faster application, you can use our Quick Apply option which lets you upload your CV instead of filling in the full experience details. This option includes your personal details, CV upload, work areas, and right to work check. Our team will review your CV and contact you if we need any additional information.
Step 2: Application review
Our recruitment team carefully reviews every application we receive. You can track your application progress - here are the stages your application may go through:
- New - your application has been received and is in the queue for review
- Reviewed - a team member has assessed your application against our criteria
- Phone Screening - you've been selected for an initial phone conversation
- Interview Scheduled - you've been invited for a more detailed interview
- Offered - congratulations, we'd like you to join our team!
Step 3: Phone screening
If your application meets our criteria, we'll contact you for a brief phone call. This initial conversation typically takes 10-15 minutes and covers:
- Verification of your application details
- Discussion of your cleaning experience and skills
- Your availability and preferred working areas
- Any questions you have about working with Servella
- Overview of what to expect in the next steps
Step 4: Interview
Successful candidates are invited for a more detailed interview, which may be conducted in person or via video call. During the interview, we'll:
- Discuss your experience in more depth
- Review your understanding of professional cleaning standards
- Explain how Servella works, including the app and booking system
- Discuss pay rates and the weekly payment schedule
- Answer any questions about self-employment and tax responsibilities
- Assess your communication skills and customer service approach
Step 5: Offer and acceptance
If we're happy to proceed, you'll receive an offer to join Servella. Once you accept:
- You'll receive login details for the Servella cleaner app
- You'll need to upload your identity documents through the app
- We'll initiate your DBS background check
- You'll set up your bank details for payments
Step 6: Verification and checks
Before you can start accepting jobs, we need to complete important verification steps to protect our customers:
- Identity verification - we'll check your passport, driving licence, BRP, or other ID
- Right to work - we verify you're legally entitled to work in the UK
- DBS background check - this checks for any relevant criminal history
- Bank account verification - your account name must match your verified identity
- References (if applicable) - we may contact previous employers or clients
Step 7: Training and onboarding
Once your checks are complete, you'll be officially onboarded as a Servella cleaner:
- Complete mandatory training courses through the app
- Learn how to use all features of the cleaner app
- Understand Servella quality standards and customer expectations
- Set up your availability and preferred work areas
- Start receiving job opportunities in your area!
If you're not successful
If your application isn't successful, you'll receive notification of the outcome. Common reasons include insufficient experience, inability to work in the areas we currently serve, or issues identified during background checks. If circumstances change, you're welcome to reapply in the future.
Waitlist
In some cases, qualified applicants may be placed on a waitlist if we're not actively recruiting in their preferred areas. If you're waitlisted, we'll contact you when opportunities become available. You can check your application status at any time by contacting our recruitment team.
